Great initial set up, half the book, then it took a turn into fantasy… which was fine, but I felt like the storytelling took a more fragmented tone. This may have been intentional to show the magical realism of the second part of the book, but it felt jarring and slightly hard to follow. / Was in line for an A, but the end wallowed and wound up with a meaningless ending for me.
